WordCamp Europe: Date and Location!

After months of searching for the perfect venue, we’re really excited to announce that the very first WordCamp Europe will take place on 5th – 7th October in Leiden, The Netherlands!

The event will take following format:

  • Two conference days (with awesome speakers!)
  • One day contributing to WordPress day (get your hands dirty with WordPress)

That’s three days of WordPress in one beautiful location, with people from all over Europe, and the world!

What You Can Expect

  • two days of curated speakers from all over the world
  • one day dedicated to contributing to WordPress
  • the opportunity to meet community leaders
  • a place to be inspired
  • a space to share ideas
  • a job board
  • an epic after-party
  • coffee, tea, lunch
  • swag!
  • community, happiness, joy

Leiden?

Leiden is a picturesque town on the outskirts of Amsterdam. Only 20 minutes from Amsterdam Schiphol airport by train, we felt it to be the perfect location for the first WordCamp Europe. If you need to take a break from the WordPress chit-chat you can walk along stunning canals, visit museums to see paintings by Rembrandt and Steen, or while away a few hours in one of the town’s many bars and coffee shops.

Venue

The conference will take place in the beautiful Stadsgehoorzaal Leiden, a Neo-classical building that dates back to 1891. This stunning building shows off European architecture at its best, while being high-tech enough to provide a wi-fi connection for all attendees.

W00t!

With everything confirmed, all you need to do is watch this space for information about speakers, tickets, sponsorship, and the all-important WordCamp afterparty!

Looking forward on my first WordCamp. Does this mean that WordCamp Netherlands for 2013 is ‘switched’ with this one ? Sorry, too greedy right 🙂

Hey, I live 15 minutes away in Den Haag. I would be happy to help with any arrangements.

Wow, awesome that the location is Leiden! I live very close to Leiden (20min by bike) and it’s awesome that I can now visit a wcamp! I hope that it won’t be too expensive… If you need any volunteering, let me know!

Nice, but it would be nicer if you were thinking in placing an event somewhere in the middle of Europe, so everybody has a similar distance to it (and lower costs). 🙁

First off, we can’t please everybody 100%, but you’ll be glad to know the next WordCamp Europe is going to be held in a different country in Europe and that could very well be a more central one.

You can count on me and at least one or two of the rest of the interconnect/it team being there.

Happy to speak/help in some ways if possible.

How much will it cost? When will be tickets available for this event?

I like the idea very much, can’t wait to have more news!

Really looking forward to it. Set the date in my calendar and now waiting anxiously for the ticket sales to start.

This looks wonderful (British English for “Awesome”). Just a shame it coincides with my daughters birthday. I might have to bring the whole family. Will you have family tickets available? 😉
